AI has continued to dominate the news, and every brand appears to be on board except for Apple. Google AI is already integrated into some high-end flagship Androids, including its own flagship Pixel devices.

But true to fashion, Apple kept its plans close to sleeves which raised some questions.

Many people have been under the impression that Apple has been dragging its feet with AI. Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush, describes this lack as the “missing piece in the growth puzzle for Apple.”

But it looks like the giant has finally awakened and things are about to take a new turn.

Apple AI is going to be the main item on the menu at the Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) which will take place on Monday at Apple’s campus in Cupertino, California.

Everyone wants to know what exciting new AI features Apple will be unveiling and their real-life impact on users. Would it be app-based or baked directly into the iOS operating system? There have been many speculations and leaks about the AI features from the truly fantastic to the mundane. Some of the features leaked by many tech experts as far as AI Apple news is concerned include:

  • Transcriptions of voice memos
  • Message replies suggestions
  • Photo retouching
  • Emojis generations
  • Better search functionalities
  • Missed notifications recaps and more

These are all AI features already available in Samsung and Google phones but Apple will likely give it its own spin.

Also, Siri is about to get slightly smarter. Debuted since 2011, Siri is already long overdue for a major update. At its current state, it is barely in the game, let alone being able to compete with Google AI Gemini or OpenAI’s GPT-4o which both feature AI-powered Voice assistance.

It is expected that there will be some new changes there as well. At this rate, iPhone users will be happy just to have any sort of updates made to Siri.

And it’s about time. With AI being the biggest disruptive tech innovation lately, major brands like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft have quickly integrated the technology into their core services, Apple cannot afford to be left behind in the AI race. It is hoped that Apple’s AI will be able to work offline while still not being a major battery drain.

So far, investors have thrown their support behind companies that show a clear AI strategy and vision. Nvidia, has recorded impressive growth in its stock price last past alone. Also, Microsoft, with its integration of OpenAI into its products, has seen a 28% increase in stock price over the past year.

It would be interesting to learn how the Apple and AI relationships will play out considering that AI is a data hungry “beast” which doesn’t quite align with Apple’s privacy-centered core principles. Still, some experts hope that the AI features will get better when Apple finalizes the partnership with OpenAI.

At any rate, AI is still prone to misleading information and “hallucinations” which is a major factor that needs to be ironed out. Hopefully all our questions and expectations will be met at the event.
